Frequently Asked Questions

NEW VISA

Applicants must be at least 18 years old to apply for an employment visa, in line with the legal working age in the UAE.

For shareholders, there is no fixed maximum age limit for obtaining a residence visa, and the visa validity is generally issued for two years, regardless of age.

For employees aged 59 years and above, the visa validity will be restricted to one year.

To apply, please log in to RAKEZ Portal and refer to the New Visa Checklist.

The visa process can be initiated while the applicant is outside the UAE. The first step is to apply for the entry permit, also known as the e-visa.

Once the entry permit is approved, the applicant must enter the UAE to complete the remaining steps. These include the medical fitness test, biometric scanning for the Emirates ID, and residence visa issuance.

To begin the process, please log in to RAKEZ Portal, select the visa package that best suits your requirements, and submit your application. Our team will guide you through the process and support.

Yes, you may apply for a new UAE residence visa while holding an existing residence visa. However, the existing visa must be cancelled before a new entry permit, or e-visa, can be issued.

Once the cancellation is completed and the new entry permit is issued, you may proceed with the in-country status change, medical fitness test, Emirates ID application, and residence visa issuance process.

The medical fitness test is mandatory for residence visa applicants aged 18 years and above. Applicants below the age of 18 are not required to complete the medical fitness test.

For a smoother and more convenient experience, RAKEZ Medical Fitness Centre offers a comprehensive range of services to support your visa journey, including VIP medical testing, VIP lounge access, instant photo booth services for visa and passport requirements, health insurance support, and visa and medical typing services.

Visit RAKEZ Medical Fitness Centre to complete your medical test and benefit from a seamless service experience.

Biometric scanning is required for first-time UAE residence visa applicants aged 15 years and above as part of the new visa application process.

If you already have a UAE residence visa and are renewing or changing your visa within the UAE, biometric scanning is usually not required. You will only need to proceed with the Emirates ID renewal or replacement process, as applicable.

If your company is managed by a RAKEZ Agent, please contact your agent directly for support with this process.

Yes. Workers Protection Insurance (WPI) is mandatory, even if your employee already has health insurance.

Health insurance and WPI serve different purposes. Health insurance covers medical treatment, while WPI provides protection for specific employee-related obligations, such as unpaid salaries, gratuity, and repatriation costs in the event of employer default, subject to a court decision.

For new visa and visa renewal requests, WPI will be added automatically to your package. You can also choose from RAKEZ's health insurance options, designed to support a smoother visa journey and provide coverage that meets the relevant requirements.

RAKEZ health insurance can be selected directly while applying for a new visa or visa renewal through the RAKEZ Portal, making the process simpler and more convenient.

If your company is managed by a RAKEZ Agent, please contact your agent directly for support with this process.

For visa processing, health insurance must be issued by an Immigration-approved insurance provider. If your international health insurance provider is not listed as an approved provider, it will not be accepted for your visa request.

To make the process easier and more convenient, RAKEZ offers comprehensive health insurance options through RAK Insurance. These options are designed to meet visa processing requirements and can be selected directly when applying for a new visa or visa renewal through RAKEZ Portal.

You may also purchase health insurance separately through the Value Added Services section on RAKEZ Portal.

Yes. Shareholders and investors of RAKEZ-registered companies may apply for an employee visa.

If you are listed as the Manager on the company license and are applying for a Manager visa, an educational qualification certificate is not required.

For other job titles, an attested educational qualification certificate may be required, depending on the selected position and applicable immigration requirements.

To apply, please log in to RAKEZ Portal and select the job title that best matches your role and requirements.

f your name is listed in the trade license as Manager and applying for Manager visa, an educational qualification certificate is not required. For other job positions, an attested educational qualification certificate is required.

To apply, log in to RAKEZ Portal and select the position that best matches your requirements.

No. Once the company's free visa quota has been fully utilized, any new visa application submitted after a visa cancellation will be charged as per the standard applicable fees.

However, if the existing free visa is renewed, the visa renewal will remain at zero cost, subject to the applicable terms and conditions.

For new visa applications, you may also explore RAKEZ's VIP New Visa Package, which provides end-to-end support and added convenience, including health insurance, medical test, and biometrics services on the same day, with processing completed in less than four days.

If your company is managed by a RAKEZ Agent, please contact your agent directly for support with this process.

Your e-visa / entry permit must first be activated, either by entering the UAE or completing an in-country status change.

The Emirates ID issuance is the final stage of the new visa process. It will proceed after the medical fitness test, biometrics, and residence visa process are successfully completed.

RAKEZ also provides an Emirates ID doorstep delivery option for added convenience. You may select the home delivery service, and the Emirates ID card will be delivered within 2 to 4 working days after the residence visa process is completed.

Yes, you may apply for an Entry Permit Extension, provided your e-visa has at least four days of validity remaining at the time of application.

To apply, log in to RAKEZ Portal and submit an Entry Permit Extension request.

Once approved, you will receive a copy of the extended entry permit, which will be valid for an additional 60 days.

After entering the UAE, you can proceed with the remaining visa steps, including the medical test and biometrics. You may also explore RAKEZ's health insurance coverage and VIP visa services for a smoother and more convenient visa journey.

If your company is managed by a RAKEZ Agent, please contact your agent directly for support with the extension process.

For the standard visa package, Emirates ID biometrics can be completed at RAKEZ Medical Fitness Centre.

You may visit us during the following working hours:

  • Monday to Thursday: 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM
  • Friday: 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Biometrics in Dubai are available only under the VIP visa package. With the VIP package, you can complete both the medical test and Emirates ID biometrics on the same day through one of our preferred partners:

  • Smart Salem – Dubai
  • Al Baraha Smart Centre – Dubai

If you would like to proceed, you can upgrade your package to VIP and enjoy additional benefits, including a dedicated support team and 20% off selected family visa requests.

VISA RENEWAL

For employees above 60 years old, the visa and Emirates ID validity is one year.

To apply, log in to RAKEZ Portal, select the employee from the list, and proceed with the visa renewal request. You can then select the package that best suits your requirements, including Emirates ID, visa processing, medical test, WPI, and health insurance services.

If you have stayed outside the UAE for more than 6 months, you must obtain an entry permission approval from Immigration before travelling, provided your residence visa is valid for more than 30 days.

If your visa has less than 30 days validity remaining, you will need to cancel your visa and apply for a new one.

To proceed

Option 1:
Apply for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) through the RAKEZ Portal and submit your request directly via the ICP system.

Option 2:
Request RAKEZ to manage the process end-to-end on your behalf.

If your company is managed by a RAKEZ Agent, please contact them directly to assist you with this process.

VISA AMENDMENT

You can amend the salary details by applying for the Employment Certificate service through the RAKEZ Portal under Visa Services.

Update the required salary information, complete the payment, and submit the request. Once submitted successfully, the updated employment certificate will be issued instantly.

If the job title on your Employment Contract Certificate has been updated through the RAKEZ Portal, a visa amendment request must be submitted to update the job title on the residence visa and Emirates ID.

The request can be submitted through RAKEZ Portal, provided that the residence visa has a minimum validity of one month at the time of application. The visa holder must also be physically present in the UAE when the request is submitted.

You may submit a visa amendment request through RAKEZ Portal under the service category "Visa Transfer to New Passport – Same Nationality."

If you are outside the UAE and planning to enter the country, please ensure you carry both your old and new passports, as your valid residence visa is linked to your old passport.

If your nationality has changed, the required process will depend on whether you are a shareholder, manager, or employee.

For shareholders and managers, the KYC details must first be updated through RAKEZ Portal. Once the nationality details are updated in both RAKEZ and Immigration records, a visa cancellation request must be submitted, followed by a new visa application under the updated nationality.

For employees, the existing visa must first be cancelled. A new visa application can then be submitted through RAKEZ Portal under the updated nationality.

Yes. The existing residence visa must be cancelled before a new visa application can be submitted under the updated nationality.

Once the cancellation is completed, the new visa application may be submitted through RAKEZ Portal, subject to the applicable requirements and approval from the relevant UAE authority.

No. You cannot enter the UAE using a new passport with a different nationality if your existing residence visa was issued under your previous passport and nationality.

You may enter the UAE using the passport linked to your valid residence visa. After entering the UAE, the existing visa must be cancelled, and a new visa application must be submitted under the updated nationality.

The applicant must then complete the required visa process, including the medical fitness test, Emirates ID application, and residence visa issuance.

VISA CANCELLATION

After the visa is cancelled, the visa deposit refund can be requested once the applicant has either exited the UAE or obtained a new visa.

To apply, submit the signed refund form through the Contact Us page. Once the request is reviewed and approved, the refund amount will be credited to your company e-wallet within approximately two weeks.

If your company is managed by a RAKEZ Agent, please contact your agent directly for assistance with this process.

EMIRATES ID SERVICE

Similar to the residence visa, 30-day grace period is allowed after the expiry date. Once this grace period ends, a late renewal fine of AED 20 per day may apply, up to a maximum of AED 1,000.

Additional visa-related fines may also apply if the delay affects the visa renewal process.

To avoid government fines or delays, we recommend renewing your visa and Emirates ID on time.

You can apply for renewal through the RAKEZ Portal.

If your Emirates ID card is lost, you may apply for a replacement by submitting a request through the Contact Us page. Please note that this service is only available while you are inside the UAE.

Required documents

  • Passport copy
  • Emirates ID copy, if available
  • Recent passport-size photograph with a white background
  • Preferred delivery option, such as P.O. Box or doorstep delivery

Fees

The Emirates ID replacement fee is AED 585.

For your convenience, RAKEZ offers an Emirates ID doorstep delivery service. You may select this option when submitting your request, and the Emirates ID card will be delivered within 2 to 4 working days after the service is completed.

WORK PERMIT & VISA TRANSFER

Visa transfer between RAKEZ companies is currently not available. To move to another RAKEZ company, the new company must submit a new visa application.

The process is straightforward. The new company must first apply for a new visa and obtain Immigration approval. Once the new visa is approved, your current visa must be cancelled before proceeding with the remaining steps.

You can then complete the medical test at RAKEZ Medical Fitness Centre or through one of our preferred partners in Dubai, followed by the Emirates ID biometrics process.

For a faster and more convenient experience, you may select the RAKEZ VIP visa package, which includes a dedicated support team and additional benefits.

Yes. RAKEZ offers a Temporary Work Permit that allows an employee to work temporarily for another company inside or outside RAKEZ while maintaining their existing RAKEZ visa.

The permit is valid for up to six months and may be extended, subject to approval and applicable requirements.

Please note that this service applies to temporary work arrangements within the UAE and is not applicable for overseas work arrangements.

No. Salary certificates cannot be issued for employees working under a temporary work permit, as they remain sponsored by their existing employer and continue to be governed by their current employment contract.

TOURIST VISA

No. Minors under the age of 18 must travel with one or both parents.

To apply, log in to RAKEZ Portal, select Tourist Visa under Visa Services, and submit your request.

Please refer to the Tourist Visa service card for the full list of required documents and process details.

No. Working in the UAE while holding a tourist visa is not permitted and may result in fines or legal action by the relevant authorities.

If you secure an employment opportunity while you are in the UAE on a tourist visa, your employer must apply for the appropriate employment visa before you start working.

GOLDEN VISA

Currently, freelancer permit holders are not eligible to apply for the Golden Visa under the skilled category.

Please refer to the Golden Visa service card for the latest eligibility criteria and requirements.
