RAKEZ Academic Zone to promote youth entrepreneurship with Canadian University Dubai

Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone (RAKEZ) Academic Zone has announced its collaboration with Canadian University Dubai (CUD) on a series of initiatives toward encouraging entrepreneurship among youth. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between RAKEZ and CUD was signed at the university’s Dubai campus in the presence of Taner Topcu, Director of RAKEZ Academic Zone, and Brian Banford, Chief Advancement Officer of CUD.

RAKEZ and CUD aim to provide knowledge and training to students and fresh graduates who are interested to start their own businesses. Commenting on the initiative to focus on the youth, Ramy Jallad, Group CEO of RAKEZ, said: “The youth of today are becoming more inclined to build their own path. In fact, a recent survey showed that 8 out of 10 newly grads who just landed their first job are considering to resign to become business owners, and this is something that we need to support. These young minds will potentially fill a gap in the market, innovate and create long-lasting employment opportunities for the next generation.”

“We’re glad to team up with Canadian University Dubai (CUD), one of the leading universities in the United Arab Emirates, for this initiative. We are excited to see what we can do together to equip the youth, so they can be the industry leaders and visionaries of tomorrow.” Mr Jallad added.

Mr Banford commented “the collaboration between RAKEZ and CUD is extremely significant to the future economy of the UAE. As an educational institution, CUD prides itself in producing the next leaders of the UAE at all levels. By partnering with RAKEZ, we are providing assurances that these young leaders succeed in their endeavors once they leave university. This partnership allows us to have an open dialogue to provide better resources for young people wishing to become entrepreneurs.”

Apart from inspiring the youth to become their own boss, RAKEZ and CUD plan to launch a student incubator initiative, conduct guest lectures, as well as support student growth through internships. CUD will also offer RAKEZ employees with special rates for its academic programmes to support them in advancing their education.
