GENX - From industrial insight to UAE manufacturing

THE BEGINNING

The GenX story began in August 2020, during a period of global supply-chain disruption. Founder Mohamed El-Fiky saw a recurring challenge: industrial companies were often forced to choose between suppliers with technical knowledge and those offering commercial flexibility. He set out to build a business capable of delivering both.

GenX was formally established in Cairo in 2021 as an industrial supplies and technical services provider. Working closely with factories, workshops and site operations across welding, cutting technologies, PPE and technical support gave the company a firsthand understanding of industrial environments. It also revealed that a uniform was more than clothing; it could directly influence safety, productivity, employee comfort, corporate identity and operating costs.

As client requests increased, GenX began developing garments through technical design, structured sampling, partner production and continuous feedback. The early years were challenging, with limited capital, fragmented production processes and the risks involved in carrying fixed operating costs. The company responded by protecting cash, reinvesting profits and learning through partner factories before committing to its own manufacturing operation.

These experiences shaped a disciplined approach built around trust, accurate specifications, strong production processes and measured growth.

"The factory is not the end of the story; it is the platform that makes the next chapter possible. RAKEZ gave us more than a licence, it gave us a practical launchpad for UAE manufacturing.”

SUCCESS STORY

GenX gradually evolved from sourcing industrial products to engineering apparel around real working conditions. Rather than beginning with fabric or design, its team studies how employees move, the environments they work in, the hazards they face, how frequently garments are washed and where reinforcement, visibility or functionality are required.

This technical approach enables GenX to manage the full process, from needs assessment and material selection to sampling, pattern development, branding, production, inspection and replenishment. Its focus is not simply on achieving the lowest unit cost, but on creating durable uniforms that maintain their fit, reduce replacement frequency and deliver better value throughout their lifecycle.

The company expanded commercially into the UAE in 2023 and reached a defining milestone in 2025 with the establishment of its own manufacturing facility in RAKEZ’s Al Hamra Industrial Zone. The move gave GenX direct control over cutting, sewing, embroidery, printing, finishing and quality assurance, transforming it from a company coordinating production into one directly accountable for it.

RAKEZ played an important role in making that transition possible. Its team supported GenX in selecting the appropriate company structure and licensed activities, identifying a suitable industrial facility, navigating documentation and regulatory requirements, and accessing visa, employee and digital services. By bringing these elements together within one integrated environment, RAKEZ provided a clearer and more practical route from application to operation.

Today, GenX operates across Cairo, Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah. Its UAE facility includes around 25 sewing machines, a six-head embroidery machine, printing and pressing capabilities, in-house cutting and quality-control functions. The company has also earned repeat business from established industrial and automotive organisations, reflecting its ability to understand operational requirements and remain accountable beyond delivery.

THE FUTURE

GenX’s next chapter is centred on scaling with control. The immediate priority is to increase utilisation of its Ras Al Khaimah facility through longer-term uniform programmes and repeat production contracts, while expanding capacity gradually and responsibly.

Commercially, the company is targeting the GCC, wider MENA region, selected African markets and other international opportunities. It plans to deepen its specialised industrial workwear offering while growing its medical, hospitality, education, sportswear and lifestyle ranges. Its OEM and ODM services will also support businesses seeking to develop private-label products without establishing their own manufacturing departments.

Further investment in automation, advanced pattern and marker systems, quality data, employee development and selected certifications will support this expansion. Ultimately, GenX aims to make Ras Al Khaimah the centre of a scalable manufacturing network combining UAE production reliability, regional textile expertise and global market readiness.
